SUNDAY SCHOOL & YOUTH

Like you, we treasure our children, & want them to experience the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, & have a firm foundation in the Christian faith.

Yes, we have a Sunday School: for children aged 4—12 years—during the 10:30 am service on Sundays, beginning after Labour Day in September, & ending with the St. Barnabas Patronal Festival & picnic in the park in June. Led by a dynamic duo of dedicated teachers, the Sunday School uses a Biblically-based online curriculum entitled Ministry to Children, which explores Biblical themes (the armour of God), teachings (the Lord`s Prayer), & Bible parables & stories.

As well, we encourage participation of children of all ages in our worship services & church events throughout the year. We look forward especially to the Sunday School participation during the Advent candle-lighting ceremonies, & the Christmas Eve Creche service (4 pm) in December. The annual Children`s Christmas Pageant is also a highlight on our church calendar. In addition, the Sunday School helps the congregation experience more deeply the Passion Story by assisting with symbols on the Lenten Banner. The young people often also surprise us on other occasions, with special plays (the Epiphany Magi Monologues), poems, prayers, & songs (e.g. at Easter & Mothers` Day). As well, the Sunday School host their own special fellowship events during the year—their Halloween party being the scariest!

We also help our children understand about our church’s mission in the world by encouraging the Sunday School’s support of a foster child through World Vision of Canada, & helping with Operation Christmas Child, to provide gift boxes for children around the world.

Please note that Sunday School Classes have currently started their activities during the 9:00 am services every Sunday. Classes will be held in the lounge. 

CONFIRMATION Classes: 

Confirmation preparation is available: for young people aged 12 years & older who are ready to make a more mature study of the Christian faith, & affirm for themselves the promises made on their behalf at their Baptism. Classes take place at the Church, from November 2021 to March 2022 for for the candidates involved. For information or registration: please contact the Incumbent directly.

The confirmation service for people who have attended the confirmation classes, will be held June 26, 2022 at the 9:am worship service.
